Slate Installation And Repair

What Is Slate Roofing?

Slate roofing has been known for hundreds of years as one the highest quality, most long-lasting roofing materials on the market. Slate roofing tiles are cut from metamorphic rock – which makes it extremely durable and an optimal roofing material to be split into sheets of various levels of thickness.

The labour required to prepare slate is intensive as it is cut and trimmed mostly by hand for the required custom size and thickness. Slate roofing provides a home or business with unique character and adds a level of beauty incomparable to other roofing materials.

Why Choose Slate Roofing?

If you are looking for a timeless, classic look to your home, slate roofing is a great option.  Available in a variety of colors, the aesthetic beauty slate provides is second to none and provides a home or business with a natural, impressive look. Slate is known for its durability and comes with a life expectancy of generally 75-200 years.

Benefits Of Slate Roofing:

• Natural, aesthetic beautiful
• Weather resistant
• Excellent insulating properties, making it cost-effective
• Impermeable to moss, water and algae growth
• Longevity
• Naturally fire-resistant
• Environmentally friendly

Drawback Of Slate Roofing

Slate tiles are extremely heavy and requires an adequate frame to support it. Though a natural slate roof does have low maintenance requirements, it is susceptible to splitting from ice or loosen/wear from metal flashing. It is important to schedule maintenance checks with professionals at least once every 3 years if you decide to install an authentic slate roof.
